What are the prizes?

Racing prize money:
1st: $3000, 2nd: $1000, 3rd: $500, 4th: $250

Freestyle prize money:
1st: $1750, 2nd: $750, 3rd: $250

What is the cost per pilot entry?

$90 for a racing pilot slot. $90 for a freestyle slot. $150 if you wish to participate in both racing and freestyle.

When is the event?

Wednesday July 5th  – Set up.
Thursday July 6th – Set up.
Friday  July 7th – Practice (Not Mandatory)

Open to the public.
Staurday July 8th – Qualifications.
Sunday July 9th – Finals.

Note: Camping in the camp grounds is available to Pilots, Volunteers and immediate family. There is limited space, contact us for information.

Do I need to be a club member to enter?

Yes, you need to be a member of a currently affiliated MAAA club and hold current MAAA insurance to enter and compete.

What happens if it rains during the event?

The Race Director will be in charge of this decision on the day.

What is scrutineering?

It’s when we check your aircraft to ensure its legal and complies with all regulations.

When do I pay my entry fee?

When your entry is confirmed by the AFPVRA. You will be sent a confirmation email along with fee payment details.

How do I submit a video with my entry?

Upload it to Youtube or Vimeo and email us with the link to view it via our contact page.

Closing date for entries is 11:59pm 31st May 2017.

How long should my entry video be and what should it show?

Freestyle submissions are to be a maximum of 3 minutes and submitted to Dropbox. No editing of the video to cut out any mistakes or fumbles. We value being able to hear the whine of the motors during these submissions, so no music over the top.

Racing submissions are to be of completing the 2017 Nationals Qualifying track. Upload your video to either Youtube or Vimeo and submit the URL with your submission.


What power video transmitter can I use?

Maximum power output allowed on video transmitters (VTX) is 25 milliwatt (mw) on 5.8Ghz

Can I use RaceBand?

No, RaceBand uses channels outside the legal frequencies allowed in Australia.

What channels can I use on my video transmitter?

You can use channels 1, 3, 5 and 7 on the Fatshark (F) band.

Are LED's mandatory for my aircraft?

No but they are recommended so other pilots can see you and not run into you!
